01 // The Non-Commercial Mandate
your internal state is not a product.
idkhowtosmilewithmyeyesopen.com is a non-commercial anthropological archive. we do not, and will never, sell your data, behavioral patterns, or emotional fragments to advertisers, third parties, or data brokers. there are no tracking pixels, no "interest-based" profiling, and no monetization of your loneliness.
02 // Absolute Anonymity
transmission requires verification, not identity.
we use google authentication purely as a gatekeeper to prevent automated spam. once your session is verified, your identity is stripped from the packet. the database only records the content of your observation. your name, email, and profile image are never stored alongside your thoughts.
03 // The Right to Vanish
ephemeral by design.
the "scratchpad" protocol is designed for total data destruction. text entered in that wing is never transmitted to a server and dissolves from your local memory within 5 seconds of inactivity. in the public archive, if you wish to have a fragment removed, you may contact the curator with the fragment's unique reference ID.
"the archive exists to help us feel less alone in the dark. selling that darkness would be a betrayal of the protocol."
